Find Pain Relief with Deep Tissue Laser Therapy

Our practice is among the first in the area to invest in a Deep Tissue Therapy Laser from LiteCure Medical.

Drug free, pain relief is the goal for individuals suffering from acute or chronic pain.  Now we can offer you a non-surgical option that truly has the power to eliminate or significantly reduce your pain. Five to ten brief treatments with this powerful laser is all it takes to realize life changing results.  Many of our patients experience significant relief in their first treatment.  The Deep Tissue Therapy Lasers work by flooding injured tissue with photons, or light energy, stimulating damaged cells and increasing circulation to the painful area. This creates a cascade of healing responses in your body, reducing inflammation, thereby reducing or even eliminating your pain. Treatments take just a few minutes, however the therapeutic effect continues to soothe and heal long after you leave the office.

Deep Tissue Laser Therapy (DTLT) uses a scientific principle of Photobiomodulation (PBM).  PBM therapy is defined as a form of light therapy that utilizes lasers in the visible (400 – 700 nm) and near-infrared (700 – 1100 nm) spectrum.  It creates a response in the bodies tissues. This process results in beneficial therapeutic outcomes including but not limited to the alleviation of pain or inflammation, immunomodulation, and promotion of wound healing and tissue regeneration.

The application of a therapeutic dose of light to damaged or dysfunctional tissue leads to a cellular response that reduces pain and inflammation and speeds healing.

The primary target for the process is the inner membrane of the cell mitochondria.  If you remember your high school biology class, you’ll recall that the mitochondria is often described as the “Power House” of the cell.  The mitochondria produce a chemical compound called adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP is the fuel for your cells to perform their basic metabolic processes.  Just like gasoline is the fuel for your car, ATP is the fuel for your cells. Laser treatments also produce free nitric oxide and reactive oxygen. Nitric oxide leads to increased blood flow and is an important signaling molecule used in many metabolic processes.  Reactive oxygen has been linked to decreased inflammatory respose.

Finally, these metabolic signaling molecules have been shown to induce growth factor production, to increase cell proliferation and motility, and to promote extracellular matrix deposition and pro-survival pathways. Outside the cell, nitric oxide signaling drives vasodilation which improves microcirculation in the damaged tissue, delivering oxygen, vital sugars, proteins, and salts while removing wastes.

Whoa!  That’s a lot of technical jargon!

The BIG Picture

Deep Tissue Laser Therapy provides the following benefits:

  • Decreased Pain
  • Improved Blood Flow
  • Decreased Inflammation
  • Increased cellular metabolism

Many patients feel immediate relief and the enhanced metabolic effects last for 16-18 hours after treatment application.
